Photo of the Week – March 6, 2013 – A Day for Pound Cake?
You learn interesting things when you hit the supermarket. For example, did you know that this past Monday was National Pound Cake Day? I didn’t, but I still scooped up the $2.00 pound cake Whole Foods put on sale. Because I’m always game for a food holiday.
But pound cake is kind of plain, so we improvised the excitement.

Why is pound cake called pound cake?
The reason it’s called pound cake is because the original recipes called for a pound apiece of the basic ingredients: sugar, flour, butter, and eggs.
