Photo of the Week – September 1, 2010 – Summer’s Jewels
I picked the second harvest from our raspberry bushes yesterday. We can thank my dad for this abundance of summer’s jewels since he persisted in giving us clippings from his raspberry plants until we finally discovered the place where they would grow.

Got something to say?

I love raspberries. Where is the spot to grow them?
Despite the fact that the raspberry bushes have completely taken over our front flower bed, the joy of picking and eating fresh raspberries compensates fully.
What a beautiful picture and your dad would be pleased, I’m sure!
They worked best in a borderline shade and sun spot in one of our front flower beds. We’ve had to be creative in finding places to grow things around our home because we have so much shade. It doesn’t make for the perfect suburban landscape but, personally, I’d rather have plants that produce good food than to look like a Stepford Family home.
The best part is that I picked those two days ago, and now there are more ripe berries just waiting to be picked.
