Baby Cakes; Proud Mama

I’ve kind of created a monster. Last night, around 6:00, when I was at my desk finishing work before starting dinner, Louisa decided to get busy in the kitchen. First she decides to make a slushy type of dessert using peaches we had lying around. But was that enough? Noooooo. She decided that we needed cake to accompany the slushy. So she and I hunted around to find a simple cake recipe that could be whipped up for dessert. My objective was to make it as simple as possible to minimize the kitchen mess, e.g. no separating eggs or sifting dry ingredients. She just wanted a simple tasting recipe. I finally found one in “Hello Cupcake” that was perfect. Louisa’s plan was to bake the cakes in my small le creuset pots for an extra special presentation. Although dinner was delayed about an hour because of this project, the cakes were delicious and the pots were a brilliant idea. Without even buttering the pots, the cakes popped right out after about 15 minutes of cooling time.

Celebrity News?

I really don’t follow the Kardashians, but I just had to share this lovely little photo I discovered through one of the foodie blogs I follow. You’ll have to follow the link to see it on Kourtney’s blog, but it shows her first, proud supermarket outing with baby Mason. Isn’t he adorable? And don’t you love the nutritious goodies stuffed in the cart with him? The perfect mama teaching good nutrition to her tot. She explains that she waited until he was almost 9 months to take him to the market because she was afraid of the germs. I think she should be more afraid of the processed junk food that surrounds him in the cart.

Extra pots are fine…as long as I don’t have to clean them!

Even if you did, they were easy.

It’s nice to be able to spend an hour with your child doing something you both like. Even if the food wasn’t good you can’t take the experience away.

Got something to say?
