Photo of the Week – August 25, 2010 – Blue Crab
I didn’t exactly know why they were called “blue” crabs until Joe and Louisa caught them on our vacation. They released them back into the bay so that the restaurants could do the murdering and cooking for us. Joe has threatened to do the cooking himself the next time we’re down there. I’ll let him do the dirty work and I’ll add the Old Bay Seasoning to the pot.

Got something to say?

No mercy with crabs! They are too delicious. Just throw them in the pot, add that Old Bay, wait till they are no longer blue but bright red, crack the bellies open, clean them (for the faint of heart) and add some more Old Bay, crack some more, eat, yum, yum, yum.
You sound like an expert! We’ve done it all, except the throw in the pot bit. It can get a little nasty, but the girls kind of like pounding the claws with the mallet.
You’re going to need more than one crab for a good family dinner. You’d be suprised how little meat is in a crab.
Nah, we’re pretty light eaters. One is fine for our gang.
