Photo of the Week – 6/23/10 – Vietnamese Stir Fry with Tofu

We’ve discovered that one of the best restaurants on Chincoteague is this small Vietnamese restaurant called Saigon Village. We went for dinner there on Saturday and all of us enjoyed our choices. Funny though, I’m the only one who ordered a tofu dish. Why oh why is tofu so misunderstood?

I think those who misunderstand tofu have tasted it plain without realizing all the flavors it absorbs. Some may have a texture hurdle to overcome too. I would suggest if someone saw a tofu dish on the menu they should look at the other ingredients in the dish. If they like those ingredients they shouldn’t be afraid to try the dish.

In some ways it’s almost like a plain white tortilla. Bland with an odd texture until the other ingredients are added and then it comes together like one big happy family.

Got something to say?
