We returned from our trip to Boston last week with a box of cannolis. Could that possibly have influenced our Cannoli purchase later in the week? I think so.

    I just finished a great Italian dinner at a restaurant in the DC area. The meal was excellent and I finished off with an espresso and a cannoli. Don’t worry small “c”, not the South American Cuy kind.

    Maybe I’m wrong but I believe true cannoli (cannoli is one off those words that is its own plural right?) should not have chocolate. Just the shell and sweet ricotta cheese. But if you must know the ends of the shell were dipped in chocolate.

    Actually, true cannoli have chocolate chips and candied fruit mixed into the ricotta filling. With pistachio nuts on the ends. I just double-checked in “La Cucina” which is like Italy’s version of “Betty Crocker”. Oh, and yes about the plural business.
