Butterfly, Dining – Photo of the Week 8/06/09

Dig In.
It’s so much simpler to dine as a butterfly. You flutter around looking gorgeous, spot the first available flower, and dine away. No thoughts about sugar, fats, veganism, factory farming, preservatives, additives, natural flavors, or the hundreds of other things we humans worry about in our food supply. Just pick a flower and dig in.

Got something to say?

I’ve heard some butterflies (like the Mornarch I believe) have no digestive tract. They live three days to mate. The butterfly is a beautiful love story! If you want to eat you should stay a catepillar.
It is not quite as simplistic as it sounds. Buttlerflies carefully chose which plants to dine on depending on the species. Any old flower won’t do for some species. Also, altho they don’t worry about additives and preservatives, we have to worry for them if we want our grandchildren to have butterflies in their lives. Pesticides (additives?) sprayed in fields affect butterflies which, after all, are insects, albeit “good” ones!
Well, yes, if we choose to worry. But they don’t have to think about these things.
